Peter Chang's China Grill

This is a fantastic restaurant.The prices are pretty decent and the portions are generous. We ordered a couple different things and everything was amazing.The food is more Homestyle Chinese, although I noticed there's not as many vegetarian dishes as a lot of authentic Chinese restaurants have. There are still many, it's just a more American proportion of meat dishes.I would encourage you to order one of the specials instead of your normal American Chinese order, I did this and I found a new favorite dish.

Excellent food, large servings, you get what you pay for.

Peter Changs is one of my favorite places to have lunch. They have a flexible lunch menu with a good variety of options. It is also very affordable. There are some new additions to the lunch menu that I enjoy such as the chicken and snow peas in a mild curry sauce.

Really authentic Chinese food. We especially like the Sichuan style dishes.

Great place for fresh, authentic Chinese food. We get the stir fry hot pot (aka dry pot or ma la xiang guo) every time and have, more than once, gone multiple times a week.

Best Chinese food I've had in a long time. Certainly the best wonton soup I've had in a long time, and the hot and numbing suce is unique and delicious.

Kung Pao Chicken was great. I was pleasantly surprised that it was more chicken then vegetables.

Such a lovely place. Tonight I ordered quite a large order and accidentally was given the wrong one at pick up. I had two kids with me and a sick wife at home with the flu. I got home and saw the different order of food when I unpackaged. I called and just explained and kindly the manager asked where I lived. I mentioned Crozet. Within 15 minutes a young man from the restaurant delivered my food. That is such a kind act and first class. love love love this place.

I think Peter Chang's is a pretty decent Chinese restaurant - it is definitely in the traditional sense with some Americanization and of a better quality than other Chinese restaurants in the same vein/style. The food was tasty. The atmosphere of the place is pleasant, well-spaced, and very clean. Overall a good experience.

Great authentic Chinese food. NOT the typical greasy, cheap, take out. Pork belly appetizer is pleasantly spiced. Bang bang shrimp is sweet and just a little zesty. The pork soup dumplings are worth the wait. And those are just the appetizers. Try the sweet and sour chicken here and you will never order it anywhere else!

Wish there were more vegetarian or vegan options. Very few considering the normal Chinese diet. :(

I always come here when I visit Charlottesville to eat the bamboo fish, which I haven't been able to find at any other Chinese restaurant in any other city. The rest of the menu is great and fairly priced.

Authentic Chinese restaurant. One of the better ones in Charlottesville for sure. Generous portions, good variety, and relatively high quality food. I recommend their double cooked pork!

Easily the best Chinese food in Charlottesville and quite possibly all of VA. The signature "hot and numbing" flavor is distinctive and delicious. It's easy to see why Peter Chang has a cult following. The egg drop soup has corn in it, which added a bit of extra flavor to a simple but well-executed dish. The dry fried eggplant was like spicy basil eggplant frech fries - well-seasoned and crispy. The mapo tofu was complex - rich, earthy, smoky, spicy. My partner enjoyed his hot and sour soup and chef's special duck in clay pot too (although just be aware, it is a huge portion that could easily feed 2+). The food came quickly (too quickly actually - almost all at once - but who cares, it's the food that matters).

We visited two Peter Changes within a month, one in Charlotte, VA and another Rockville, MD. Two different locations, two different services. While both served it's signature balloom breads, which are beautiful and tasty, the dishes in the Charlotte location was much better than the other one. The Peking duck was great. So was the lamb chop.

8 of us tonight, I had the Beef with 3 peppers yummy with the white rice, they even gave us rice for the ride home...

Not a water chestnut to be found in lettuce wraps. Just chicken and onion.Had a great takeout before but this one gets at best a 3.

Basically it's more of Sichuan dishes. The rib soup is good, slightly too much pepper. The fish ball is a little plain, but love the idea of the dish that it serve with veggies.

While still offering some unique Chinese dishes and gluten free options over the past few years the quality of food has slipped a bit. The service is always adequate.

Hot sake was great. First time trying it and liked it. For my first time eating here portions of food were decent. Taste on the rice was lacking a little bit. My best suggestion is stick with the mainstream items when ordering generals tso's chicken was quite good. Mabye I'll try the beef and broccoli next time.

Very authentic and delicious. Many options to choose from and keep you coming back for more. Bubble pancakes, tea smoked duck, and golden mountain chicken are my favorites.

I read about Peter Chang while living in Oregon 10 years ago. I didn't think I would ever eat at his restaurant, but here we are. It's not your typical Chinese restaurant, and that's a good thing. Great food. Go with a group so you can try as many things as possible.

The food here is equal to the best I have had in my home baliwick of Southern California's San Gabriel Valley. Large portions, modest priced and plenty of 4-chili pepper heat if that's your thing.

Very good Chinese restaurant near barracks shopping center. A lot of variety in both food and drinks. Also good options for vegetarian/vegan.

Best Chinese restaurant in Charlottesville.

What a wonderful little restaurant! My husband and I went on a Friday evening right before 5. The service was speedy, the wait staff were pleasant and knowledge. Most importantly, the food was amazing! I'm not a fan of Chinese food but this place had lots of unique options. I'm a vegetarian and there were plenty of meatless choices. We will definitely go again.

More than traditional Chinese American food. Some very good options, unique and popular with Asian folks which is good I would say.
